Hot Dog

He hasn't yet figured out how to fetch slippers or bark when his water bowl is empty (only to inform me there's a kamikaze squirrel on the lawn or the neighbor's escaped and is making a run for his mailbox)... but don't underestimate Shadow when it comes to his tan.

It's barely the size of a towel, but when Shadow realized a fraction of the deck was still in the sun this afternoon, he positioned himself for optimum rays. Like how he's getting his full face at the right angle? No bathing suit to give him lines? What a pro.

The universal medium

Shadow watches "Pet Star" on Animal Planet

Just did a little cell phone cleaning and stumbled upon this gem of Shadow during his post-neuter recovery period (just last week, actually).

Since he couldn't jump, run, or walk very far, Shadow was pretty much bedridden. Luckily, Animal Planet runs a few dog friendly shows in the mornings, and Shadow actually took an interest.

Things Shadow has done recently:

1. Attempted a jailbreak from his crate (after being left alone for a whopping two hours) by uprooting his bed and moving the floor. Turned out to be not the best of plans...

2. Turned my iPhone charger into an afternoon snack and ingested the small part that attaches to the computer. For two days afterward, we had to monitor his bathroom breaks to make sure it passed through him. Then my husband found it under the couch, where Shadow must have flung it while wrestling the lifeless cable to its death. (Oops...)

3. Fell asleep in the weirdest position yet...

(Just ignore the feet - one tiny movement and he'd wake up)

4. ... and the cutest.

5. Worked on his catching skills

6. And just continued being a lazy goof

WANTED for maiming stuffed animals

You may recall Leon, the very brave stuffed lion whom Shadow rendered mute a few weeks ago...

Well, Shadow just decided he wasn't a fan of the tail. I personally think it was a power play -- Shadow's way of claiming that he is the real king of the jungle.

But either way, Leon doesn't have to look far to realize he got away fairly unscathed (for now). Moo Cow got her rear end stitched up earlier this week, and Sam the red chicken is just a fraction (literally) of his former self.

Shadow Does His Chores

Now a whopping three months old and almost too heavy to be carried down the stairs, Shadow has all but taken over the house. A few days ago he also deemed my deck cleaning job subpar and decided he could do better...   I think he might need the instruction manual though...
